Submitting your site to web directories can be a great source of one way backlinks.  There are literally thousands of directories that you can submit your site to for free.  Most SEO experts recommend submitting to directories as a great way to get a new site off the ground.

Personally, submitting to a lot of free directories can be time consuming.  You can buy software to automate some of the submission tasks, but it can still take a lot of time.  If I were going to be using any paid directories, I'd probably take the time and submit them myself.  But in my case, I'm interested in the free directories only.  So how can I submit my site to hundreds of directories without spending a lot of time doing so?

For me, the best option was to pay a company to do the submissions for me.  You can find a lot of companies offering directory submission services just by doing a Google search.  I purchased a 500 directory submission package from Social Marker for only $30.  This package let me supply 5 unique anchor titles and descriptions.
